Great question! Here’s your little to-do list.
Have a baby. Buy all the needed supplies. Form/shape the umbilical cord. Check on the keepsake hourly as it dries to correct the shape as needed. Determine when the keepsakes is done with the dehydration process. Research finishing materials & apply finish. Research top coating material & apply top coat. Allow keepsake to cure (in an area of your home away from you/baby because of the potential finishing/top coat smells and chemicals). Get a cute box/display sleeve. And… cross your fingers it turns out cute, all while recovering postpartum.
Or for $149 you can have it done by UCordKeepsakes, Casey Merrell our certified umbilical cord keepsake creator has over 7 years of experience and has created hundred upon hundreds of umbilical cord keepsakes.
Skip the smell, skip the time, skip the uncertainty and use UCord Keepsakes. Upon signup and payment you’ll receive a full umbilical cord collection kit for the hospital staff, insulated UCord canister and shipping container, and colored photo instructions for every step of the process.

This is the UCordKeepsakes Processing Kitchen, that we added to the lower level of our home. Your cord will be preserved while holding the upmost sanitation guidelines in an area with restricted access. Only one cord is processed at a time to avoid cross contamination, mix-ups, etc. All supplies are sanitized in between each client and all safety products are followed. We pride ourselves on NOT using a personal kitchen along side normal day to day, life including meal preparation, family members, pets, kids, etc. So you never have to question what your cord may have came in contact with though the preservation process.
